Linkage Harvest Supper

Many thanks to all who came to the Supper, to the hostesses and those who prepared the Hall beforehand. A number of guests were entertained from other churches on what was a happy albeit noisy evening!

Harvest Festival will be celebrated this Sunday. Offerings of tinned produce which will later be delivered to Start Up Stirling. The charity is struggling to meet demand at present, so please be as generous as possible. Gifts in lieu will also be appreciated.

Linkage Confirmation.

There has been an encouraging response to the confirmation service to be held at St Mary’s on Sunday 17th November. Anyone considering confirmation is still invited to approach Richard.  After the service, there will be a congregational lunch in the Faerie Tree. The Faerie Tree is providing a two-course lunch for £10. The options are: Roast gammon/vegetable curry/haddock & chips followed by apple crumble/fruit salad + ice cream. Gathering

This year’s Gathering takes on a new format with people from around the Diocese invited to gather at St Ninian’s Cathedral, Perth, and finish with an Evensong to celebrate Bishop Ian’s first year in the Diocese. Arrivals are from 1.30 pm – bring a packed lunch if you wish – tea and coffee will be provided. Between 1.30 and 2.30 we have the opportunity to eat our lunches, take a guided tour of the newly refurbished Cathedral, browse and buy books form Cornerstone Bookshop Edinburgh (please bring cash if you would like to make purchases) or walk the indoor labyrinth. We will be welcomed at 2.30 pm by Bishop Ian and then get short tasters of a variety of projects and experiences that are being offered in our churches around the Diocese. The topics include young and old together, finding new resources, inspiring worship, community engagement, and lay ministries. To ensure that everyone gets an opportunity to hear about each topic, booking is not required for this year’s Gathering and we will rotate through the topics in turn. We will also learn new music for Evensong and hear Bishop Ian and a guest in conversation on a topical subject.. We expect to depart by 5.30 pm. Saturday 21st September

Balfron High School Choir and the Strathendrick Singers are hosting a free ‘Come & Sing’ day in the High School.  This will include rehearsals and workshops, followed by a public concert at 5pm. Registration will be at 9.45am. There will be no charge to participate.  All are welcome from every age and ability range; no previous singing experience is necessary.

For those who have not experienced a ‘Come and Sing’ event before, the idea is to rehearse much loved repertoire from  scratch to a standard ready for performance for the public at the end of the day. The main purpose is to enjoy the experience of singing with others, learn more about singing and discover new music!

The impact of singing on our health & wellbeing is well-recognised, improving confidence, resilience, self-esteem and much more.  Come and experience a fun and stress-free day singing some of our greatest choral favourites in the company of both choirs.
