Headlines

John Champness

Both parishes will be saddened by news that John Champness is in hospital in Coleraine, N Ireland following a car collision on Tuesday. John has sustained a sternal fracture from the steering wheel.  This will heal itself, given time, but the doctors are being very careful to check for any other injury that might need more active treatment. We send our best wishes to John and to Ruth during this anxious time.

An appeal

There are a number of posts which require to be filled by Lay Members of congregations in this area

General Synod Representative

General Synod meets at Edinburgh in early June annually between Thursday morning and Saturday lunchtime. The dates this year are the 9th to the 11th June.  General Synod is the Episcopal Church ‘Parliament’ and each year a number of important topics are debated. The term for a Representative is normally for a four year period, but a shorter term might well be possible.

Alternate Lay Representative

This is for a one-year term. Should the elected Representative be unavailable for any reason the Alternate attends instead.

Lay Representative for Standing Committee

The Standing Committee meets to oversee the running of the Diocese and its committees: it convenes for a morning in Perth approximately every two months.

These are all important posts and accordingly need to be filled. If any are of interest, would you please contact me for an informal discussion as soon as possible?

Sunday 24th January 2016 Epiphany 3 Septuagesima The Conversion of St Paul

 Almighty God,
who caused the light of the gospel
to shine throughout the world
through the preaching of your servant Saint Paul:
grant that we who celebrate his wonderful conversion
may follow him in bearing witness to your truth;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.

St Andrew’s

Planning permission for the removal of our beloved but decayed cedar has now been granted. Quotations are now being sought for the work. We are very grateful to the Cambusmore Estate for a great amount of help and support through this process.

and for the days to come…

So heart be still:

What need our little life
Our human life to know,
If God hath comprehension?
In all the dizzy strife
Of things both high and low,
God hideth His intention.

God knows. His will is best.

The stretch of years
Which wind ahead, so dim
To our imperfect vision,
Are clear to God.

Our fears
Are premature; In Him,
All time hath full provision.

Then rest: until
God moves to lift the veil
From our impatient eyes,
When, as the sweeter features
Of Life’s stern face we hail,
Fair beyond all surmise
God’s thought around His creatures
Our mind shall fill
