St Andrews

Notice is given that an Extraordinary Meeting of the Congregation will be held on Sunday 1st April immediately following the conclusion of the Morning Service starting at 10.00. The purpose of the meeting will be to formally adopt a new Constitution for St Andrew’s Church and the consent of the congregation will be given or otherwise by show of hands.

Richard writes

St Andrews Church has since its inception been governed by a constitution. Any church constitution directs not only the day to day running of the parish but also other matters such as the relationship between the parish and incumbent.

From time to time the constitution requires updating to reflect changes, especially in Charity Law. Our existing constitution is some years old and now requires revision.

The model constitution which is the subject of our EGM is in a form currently recommended both by our Diocese and the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator. It has been adopted by other parishes in the Province.

No change or revision can be made to an existing constitution without the consent of the congregation. This is the reason for the EGM.

Every effort has been made to circulate copies of the model constitution by email. Paper copies are available at the back of church for inspection. Should you still require sight of a copy, please contact me immediately and I will see that this reaches you.

If you have queries or issues regarding the matter, may I ask please that you raise these with me beforehand rather than wait for the meeting? By this means the EGM will be as brief and unobtrusive as possible.

Lord of all life and power,

who through the mighty resurrection of your Son

overcame the old order of sin and death

to make all things new in him:

grant that we, being dead to sin

may reign with him in glory;

to whom with you and the Holy Spirit

be praise and honour, glory and might,

Collect

Almighty Father,

you have given your only Son to die for our sins

and to rise again for our justification:

grant us so to put away the leaven of malice and wickedness

that we may always serve you

in pureness of living and truth;

through the merits of your Son Jesus Christ our Lord,

who is alive and reigns with you,

in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

one God, now and for ever.
