Collect

O Lord, raise up, we pray, your power

and come among us,

and with great might succour us;

that whereas, through our sins and wickedness

we are grievously hindered

in running the race that is set before us,

your bountiful grace and mercy

may speedily help and deliver us;

through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,

to whom with you and the Holy Spirit,

be honour and glory, now and for ever.

Followed by the Annual Parish Meeting

One of the agenda items at the meeting will be a ballot to accept or otherwise the gift of a new hymnbook entitled ‘Ancient and Modern: Hymns and Songs for Refreshing Worship’. The requirements of Canon Law disallow any proposed change to worship without prior consultation with the congregation. The consultation has been conducted since Easter by use of a sampler containing a selection of the new material offered by the proposed hymnbook. This process of consultation concludes with a secret ballot of everyone present at today’s Annual Meeting. The new book, should this gift be accepted, would replace all three hymnbooks presently in use.

The resolution set before the meeting will be as follows:

Do you accept the offer of a new hymnbook?
