Weddings

St Mary’s Church is both a beautiful and a convenient location for a wedding. The church itself seats about 100 people comfortably and more at a squeeze.

If you are considering a marriage, please contact the Rector who can give some initial advice and arrange for you to view the church.

The Doctrine of the Scottish Episcopal Church is that marriage is a physical, spiritual and mystical union of one man and one woman created by the mutual consent of heart, mind and will, and is a holy and lifetime estate instituted by God.

In most circumstances the Rector can, with the guidance of the Bishop of the Diocese, marry those who have previously been divorced. Anything divulged to the Rector in this regard is treated in strictest confidence.

Once a date for the ceremony is booked, the Rector can give advice about practical arrangements for the service.

The General Registry Office for Scotland has information on the legal issues involved in getting married in Scotland.

Baptisms and Christenings

When a person is baptised it is a sign that he or she is beginning to follow the footsteps of Christ and joining God’s Church asRichards-Christening-Sep09-027-556x1024 (2) a disciple.

Although baptism in the Episcopal Church is usually administered in early years, baptism of a previously unchristened person can take place at any time in life.

To arrange or discuss the possibility of baptism, please contact The Rector. A date and time to your convenience can then be arranged.

We all do our best at St Mary’s to help those faced with bereavement. The rector is able to conduct a Funeral service either in church or at a crematorium and offer any help that may be needed.
