Despite indifferent weather a successful day made possible by many contributing. Thank you to all who came and especially to those who organized the day. A sum of just over £500 was raised.

Carol and Mark Seymour’s Garden at Thorntree Arnprior FK8 3EY will be open. The afternoon includes a plant sale of everything grown in the garden.  Coffee and tea will be served in the garden with cakes and biscuits
Green Routes from Gartmore House walled garden will have a stall and Sue Mitchell will be in the summer house with details of her Emmett treatment
Entrance is £4.00 for the Scottish Garden Scheme

Friday 26 July in St Modoc’s Scottish Episcopal Church, Doune at 7.30pm.

Igor and Oleksiy, top class professional musicians from Ukraine (Kyiv Classic Accordionist Duo) , are back performing and touring the UK this summer in aid of the Hippokrat Society in Northern Ukraine  – providing support and therapy for young adults damaged by Chernobyl fall-out. They play button accordions which together create a sound like a small orchestra.

  • The programme will feature great classical pieces in the first half – Mozart: Eine kleine Nachtmusik,  Grieg:  Peer Gynt suite,  Vivaldi:  Summer from the Four Seasons
  • And music from Eastern Europe including Ukraine of course – and  perhaps a tango or two

    There may also be a couple of operatic arias – accordion and bass voice. Refreshments are served at the interval, included in the ticket price.   Tickets are available from Philip Gaskell philipgaskell52@btinternet.com or 087980749972 and on the door.

Tickets are £10 for adults, £7 for concessions and children

Diocesan Pentecost Evensong at the Cathedral. This begins at 16.30 and all are invited. Tea and scones after the service. All welcome.

St Mary’s Third Sunday at Three Concert Series

David Hamilton’s splendid recital on the 19th May proved especially memorable as he included a lecture about the nature and workings of the organ. Thanks, as always to those who organise these events. A great deal of time and effort is involved.

There is no concert in June. The summer season opens on Sunday 21st July. Details to follow.

The first Sunday Service by means of a Mass Setting by Dvorak compiled
by Peter Forrester, who also presented a reflection, was much
appreciated by all who attended last Sunday. It is hoped that these
services will become an occasional but regular feature of our worship

Saffrey Miller RIP

Easter has been overshadowed by the sudden death of Saffrey at home having that morning attended the Good Friday devotion at St Mary’s. This naturally has come as a terrible blow both to the family and to us all. Funeral arrangements will be notified in due course. Our prayers for David and the family.

Please also remember Michael Forsyth as he delivers the eulogy at his father’s funeral on the 23rd April. Our prayers for all the family.

Richard’s thanks to those who have assisted with the Easter celebrations especially to those who participated in the services and arranged beautiful decorations in both churches
