There has been an encouraging response to the confirmation service to be held at St Mary’s on Sunday 17th November. Anyone considering confirmation is still invited to approach Richard. After the service, there will be a congregational lunch in the Faerie Tree. The Faerie Tree is providing a two-course lunch for £10. The options are: Roast gammon/vegetable curry/haddock & chips followed by apple crumble/fruit salad + ice cream. Drinks and coffee may be ordered separately. you have made us for yourself,
and our hearts are restless till they find their rest in you:
pour your love into our hearts and draw us to yourself,
and so bring us at last to your heavenly city
where we shall see you face to face;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.

This year’s Gathering takes on a new format with people from around the Diocese invited to gather at St Ninian’s Cathedral, Perth, and finish with an Evensong to celebrate Bishop Ian’s first year in the Diocese. Arrivals are from 1.30 pm – bring a packed lunch if you wish – tea and coffee will be provided. Between 1.30 and 2.30 we have the opportunity to eat our lunches, take a guided tour of the newly refurbished Cathedral, browse and buy books form Cornerstone Bookshop Edinburgh (please bring cash if you would like to make purchases) or walk the indoor labyrinth. We will be welcomed at 2.30 pm by Bishop Ian and then get short tasters of a variety of projects and experiences that are being offered in our churches around the Diocese. The topics include young and old together, finding new resources, inspiring worship, community engagement, and lay ministries. To ensure that everyone gets an opportunity to hear about each topic, booking is not required for this year’s Gathering and we will rotate through the topics in turn. We will also learn new music for Evensong and hear Bishop Ian and a guest in conversation on a topical subject.. We expect to depart by 5.30 pm.
