Manchester Brigade Annual Camp
Last Saturday the Manchester Church Lads and Girl’s Brigade having spent their Annual Camp at Dounans. The week started with the customary Parade Service at St Mary’s with a march back to camp accompanied by the band. This is the only time of the year that a Police escort is required for St Mary’s congregation after a service. During the week the rain fell and the midges bit, but nevertheless a good time was had by all. It was touching to be invited to attend some of the activities such as the midweek evening communion and the lowering of the regimental flag on the last day of camp.
Some years ago it was feared that numbers of recruits were dwindling, but happily there has been a resurgence of interest and record numbers attended camp this year.
Please remember in particular the officers and staff of the Regiment who willingly give their holiday to run the camp. This of course is the tip of the iceberg: there is a considerable weekly commitment as well. Many are also actively involved in the life of their own parish churches.

St Andrew’s Cedar Tree
By degrees, our tree is being dismantled. In view of the size, this operation has required careful planning and co-ordination. We are most grateful for the help of all concerned thus far. From time to time small piles of waste timber might be seen stacked in the grounds: please take anything that may be of use.
St Andrews apples
The apples in the back garden are ripening. lease pick these in due course to avoid them being wasted.

Almighty and everlasting God,
you are always more ready to hear than we to pray
and to give more than either we desire or deserve:
pour down upon us the abundance of your mercy,
forgiving us those things of which our conscience is afraid
and giving us those good things which we are not worthy to ask
but through the merits and mediation of Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
