Easter Lily funds

Carol Seymour, the flower rota convenor at St Mary’s writes

‘The flower ladies give their time and flowers over the years to make St Mary’s look cheerful.  I feel sorry that it is mostly them who donate to the lily fund and hope others can be kind and donate to support the flower ladies who do so much at Easter, Christmas, Harvest Festival making the church look wonderful

Any extra money will be kept for buying Oasis, candles at Christmas and the Advent wreath and only this year the Easter Eggs which can be safely kept for another year’.

Heather Swaine the convenor at St Andrew’s will also welcome similar donations in the box at the back of church for that purpose.

Almighty and everlasting God,
who hatest nothing that thou hast made
and dost forgive the sins of all them that are penitent:
create and make in us new and contrite hearts
that we, worthily lamenting our sins
and acknowledging our wretchedness,
may obtain of thee, the God of all mercy,
perfect remission and forgiveness;
through Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord,
who liveth and reigneth with thee,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.

Sunday 5th March

1st Sunday of Lent

Almighty God,
whose Son Jesus Christ did fast forty days in the wilderness,
and was tempted as we are, yet without sin:
give us grace to discipline ourselves in obedience to thy Spirit;
and, as thou knowest our weakness,
so may we know thy power to save;
through Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord,
who liveth and reigneth with thee,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
