Sax Ecosse are a vibrant saxophone quartet who enjoy considerable success as
a chamber ensemble throughout the UK and Europe. We were recipients of the
Enterprise Music Scotland Residency Project 2008-10, and are alumni of the
prestigious Live Music Now scheme founded by Yehudi Menuhin. We are passionate
advocates for original repertoire for saxophone quartet and have successfully
introduced this exciting and engaging music to numerous audiences throughout
music clubs and festivals. Recent performances range from The Edinburgh
International Festival, The Emerging Artist Series at the Usher Hall,
Edinburgh, Celtic Connections, and Minimal at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall,
to recitals at the World Saxophone Congress in Slovenia and the St Olav’s
Festival in Norway.
All four members of Sax Ecosse are graduates of the Royal Conservatoire of
Scotland. We formed in 2004 during our studies at the RCS where we won all of
the major chamber music prizes including the Governor’s Recital Prize and the
Mary D Adams Prize for Chamber Music. During this time Sax Ecosse also reached
the final of Saxtet Publication’s Saxophone Quartet Competition leading to a
performance at the British Saxophone Congress.

With
sadness, David’s death is announced. He served as Rector of St Andrew’s
when Killin and Lochearnhead were attached to the parish between
1974-76. Following a parish reorganisation, he continued
to minister to St Andrew’s and St Modoc’s, Doune as a non-stipendiary
minister along with St Mary’s, between 1978-85. Our thoughts and
prayers are with Sheila
and the family. David’s funeral will take place at St Mary’s, Dunblane on Monday 22nd July with the time of the service to be confirmed.

Summerfest
is being held in part at St Andrews for the next fortnight. A programme
of events is available from most local shops in the town or through the
internet.
St Andrews
The
fact that Summerfest could be held at St Andrews has only been made
possible by
the herculean efforts of Peter Forrester and Hilary Gunkel in
conjunction with the understanding of excellent contractors presently
remedying the latest outbreak of Dry Rot in the Hall. The work is now at
a half-way point and will continue after the Festival
closes in a fortnight. A working party, including members of Stirling
Baptist Church, undertook a cleaning operation to allow use of the Hall
again. This dedication and effort by all concerned is greatly
appreciated.
