Linkage Bulletin for week commencing 1st August 2016

Notices for the week beginning 1st August

Robin Willis of St Mary’s says:

For some time now I have wanted to do something to raise funds to support those whose lives and families are affected by cancer.

As you may know my parents, David and Jean Clark, each had cancer, my youngest brother is in remission from non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, and last Friday another of our close friends was diagnosed with breast cancer. It therefore seemed an opportune time to take action.  A few weeks ago I came across Macmillan’s Campaign to “Brave the Shave” and on Monday I am shaving my head.

My initial target was to raise £2,400, enough to fund a Macmillan nurse for over 100 hours,  but I have had fantastic support, both emotional and financial, from relatives, friends and colleagues  and am now hoping to raise £5k.

As you are probably aware, Macmillan Cancer Support assists people living with cancer (and their families) with essential medical, practical and emotional support and indeed I know from family and others, what a huge benefit this is.

I wanted to let you all know  what I am doing so that if you see me around, it does not come as too much of a shock and you know that I am not ill.

Should you want to make a donation or know more about what I am doing this is the link
