John Corbishley, a Commanding Officer of the Brigade writes: ‘The Church Lads’ and Church Girls’ Brigade is this year celebrating its 125th anniversary since the formation of the CLB on 11th November 1891. We have also been involved this year in many commemorations of the 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme where the CLB suffered many hundreds of deaths and casualties. Throughout many years and many conflicts the CLB members were awarded 22 Victoria Crosses. We are incredibly proud of our heritage.
As the Manchester Regiment of the CL&CGB we will be parading our colours through Manchester in October at our Regimental Parade to celebrate our 125 years. We are also delighted to be back in Aberfoyle where we have been holding our Regimental camp for nearly 30 years. We have made many friends here, are delighted to be parading in Aberfoyle and sharing the Eucharist with you all. As we bring a 3rd generation of our members to the Dounans we hope to be returning for many years. Thank you all for the welcome we have received and continue to receive’
