BBC Songs of Praise
In March, Songs of Praise is coming to St Ninian’s Cathedral, Perth, for two recordings of traditional hymns. We are invited to come for one or both recordings.
The dates and times are as follows:
Rehearsal: Saturday 11th March, 2:30pm – 5:30pm
The rehearsal takes place at St Leonard’s in the Fields, Marshall Place, Perth, PH2 8AG.
Recording One: Saturday 18th March, 2.30pm – 5.30pm
Recording Two: Sunday 19th March, 2.30pm – 5.30pm
The recordings take place at St Ninian’s Cathedral, North Methven Street, Perth, PH1 5PP.
Admission will be by free ticket. To apply, Google ‘Songs of Praise Perth’ and download the ticket application form and e-mail it to songsofpraise@bbc.co.uk

The deadline for ticket applications has passed, but the BBC indicates that booking is still open owing to a disappointing response thus far.

St Mary’s Lent Group
These will continue after the morning service on the following Sundays in Lent: 12th March, the 2nd April and if required the 9th April. There is a break in between for Concert Sunday on the 19th March and Mothering Sunday on the 26th March. The theme is ‘The fifth Evangelist’. The sessions will finish promptly! Thanks to all who attended the opening session.
St Andrew’s World Day of Prayer
This took place at St Andrew’s on Friday 3rd March and was well supported by the Callander Churches. Thanks to Sandra Connell who is convenor of the event and the many who assisted in numerous ways.
St Mary’s Summer Fair 17th June
Susan Forsyth asks that you publicise this event as widely as possible and its date Saturday 17th June. We are particularly interested in offering potential stallholders spaces for the day.
Easter Lily funds
Carol Seymour, the flower rota convenor at St Mary’s writes
‘The flower ladies give their time and flowers over the years to make St Mary’s look cheerful. I feel sorry that it is mostly them who donate to the lily fund and hope others can be kind and donate to support the flower ladies who do so much at Easter, Christmas, Harvest Festival making the church look wonderful
Any extra money will be kept for buying Oasis, candles at Christmas and the Advent wreath and only this year the Easter Eggs which can be safely kept for another year’.
Heather Swaine the convenor at St Andrew’s will also welcome similar donations in the box at the back of church for that purpose.
St Mary’s Third Sunday at Three Concert Series

St Mary’s Opticians
St Mary’s has managed to collect sufficient pairs of glasses, lenses and cases to start a dispensing service. You may care to view the collection sometime and decide whether anything belongs to you!

‘This month Bert McKaig who is a motivational and encouraging speaker, best known for his involvement with Pray for Scotland will be our speaker. This informal Christian meeting brings people together from different churches or no church connection. Using celebration meetings held in non-church venues Filling Stations all over the UK and beyond have seen Christian communities grow in depth and numbers. The Filling Station offers high quality speakers and teachers, worship and accessible prayer ministry and an opportunity to network’.

Strathendrick Singers 40th Anniversary Concert
To celebrate 40 years of singing, the choir will be performing Carl Orff’s dramatic cantata Carmina Burana, and the premiere of a new work written specially for the choir by Aran Browning, a very talented young graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
